When I wrote to you in July, I had fully intended to resume writing a blog post every two weeks. I really wanted to! But somehow the inspiration did not come and the weeks passed. Embarrassingly, I now find myself in October, almost three months later!
I personally have been trying to regroup as so many things have changed for me this year, and I needed time for the metaphorical dust to settle. Some of the dust was difficult, and some exciting. But one thing is consistent – I have been traveling like crazy and don’t remember being in one place for more than two weeks this whole year! Living in the flow is definitely easier said than done, but I am committed to mastering it as my life certainly requires it!
So why I am embarrassed, you might ask? Well, I felt that since I have not written for a while I can’t make a request. But then I realized that the request was not for me, and if I don’t ask, I’m not even giving you the chance to say “YES!”
A year ago, right before I headed to Kenya to visit my Dad, I raised money for an orphanage there (Green Olive Orphanage). I was blown away by the support I got from so many of you; and Esther, who runs the orphanage, was beyond touched and grateful when I handed her almost $5,000 – she was shocked (in a good way!), as the amount represented about a third of her annual budget to support the 28 kids she cares for.
So as I get ready to head to Kenya this year for my Dad’s 86th birthday, I would again like to raise money for Green Olive. If you are interested in seeing the video I took last year, click here: https://vimeo.com/146905987
A year ago, I promised to match every donation up to $2,000 (which I did), and I will do the same this year. Every penny that I raise will be handed to Esther and be used exclusively for the orphanage. This is the sixth year that we will be donating money to Green Olive and it is amazing to watch the children grow and flourish.
No amount is too small, and I am grateful for everyone’s participation.
